Australia’s super 14 teams will soon feature foreign players. John O’Neill says the policy of only including players eligible for the Wallabies is at an end. O’Neil says from next year the 4 Australian teams will be allowed one or two foreign players. He says the move will nurture promising talent from the Pacific Islands.
Eddie O’Sullivan’s days in charge of Ireland could be numbered. Chief executive of the Irish Rugby Football Union Philip Browne says its time for a detailed review of Ireland’s performance. Browne failed to offer O’Sullivan any support after Ireland finished fourth in the Six Nations, their worst performance since 1999.
Speculation that Chief’s Coach Ian Foster is not up to the challenge has been thwarted by All Black half back, Brendan Leonard. After slipping to their third loss on Friday; Leonard says fingers should be pointed at Chiefs players and not the coach
The salary cap of English Rugby clubs has been increased by 1 million pounds, fueling speculation more big names in southern rugby could be heading north. Dan Carter says he’d consider playing in Europe after his New Zealand contract ends this year. But, English rugby clubs face stiff competition from France when luring All Blacks to Europe. French clubs have no salary caps, hotter cheer leaders, better food and hotter cheerleaders. New Zealand Rugby Players Association boss Rob Nichol says rugby is in danger of being dominated by European clubs.
