The Rugby Roundtable

I Love It When…

The TAB gets a punching like it took from the Horrorcanes on Saturday night. You know that Staf and I are great mates, but nothing (and I mean very little in this world) makes my belly rumble with the hehe’s like when Staf’s copped a late try to empty the pockets of his noble employer!

Ha! You beauty!

There was a ton of footy across the weekend and I was into it neck deep, true I was in Palmerston North for the weekend; this should come as a bit of a surprise to those who know me well, which in itself proved to be a ‘good’ thing. Why good has been put in quotation marks is actually beyond me, but I think you get the idea.

Still as part of the Practical Coaching Course run by the International Rugby Academy of New Zealand, I was in this rather flat dodgy world for three days.

Much to my surprise I didn’t see one Mk4 Cortina with two-toned poo-brown paint and vinyl roof, but I did encounter two rather in-effectual and possibly malnourished officers of the Palmerston North constabulary. There’s more to that story.

However ‘Palmy’ was an eye opener and one of the interesting things about that town is that the women of Palmy prefer to wear dresses when they head out. I know this is a rugby blog and I am going to keep it that way, but I like the dress idea, undressed would be a quantum leap, but I’ll take any small win I can get my hands on.

Still the fair city of Palmy Nth, was my home and I was there for the great game and to undertand more the mind and musings of the ‘coach’ (there’s those marks again). It was with the other course participants that I sat and viewed the struggle between the Brumberrys and the ‘Canes, and it was with them that I erupted when the gold number eight was worked into the clear and dotted to take the latest of wins.

Being the Jedi, I felt a stir within the force and realised that the try had more than upset the proverbial ‘apple cart’, that try had quite possibly relieved Staf of some rather large wedge and it wasn’t until I saw him in the pub on Tuesday evening that I found out the total damage.

A staisfying outcome all round and we beat the Australians too.

So in closing, I love it when the punters get lucky (even late) and when the ladies wear dresses.

Which means that Lady Luck must hot!

I’m really looking forward to this year, in terms of the RRT, for several reasons:
1)The serious rugby discussion.
2)The not-so-serious rugby discussion.
3)Kevin’s expanding database of nicknames.
That’s a nice high-definition picture of the panelists on this page; both scary and amusing.

jedi

please explain the red convertible ford capri (i think) you were drivin last year. does it really belong to the “red like a fire engine” haired one?

It’s clearly difficult to explain, but do you remember Magnum P.I? I’m sure you do… Don’t be a hater – if you’ve got it, use it. Jedi

Great podcast – but howabout some more bandwidth to download the thing quicker and when you have done that – make the rrt longer boys – 15 minutes is like virgins having sex – its all over before its started

Comment by lazy in lyon

Jedi!
So, what more is there to that story about the bothersome police officers in Palmy?
Not that any of you are that pretty, but you should definitely have some more pictures available. Well, Staf is OK looking for… what… fifty? :-)

the aussies continue to harp on about their chances in the super 14 with the 22 out, but the only side who is showing any promise is the force. the waratahs are showing that money can’t buy them a title but let’s hope that money can lure lote away to souths!! when will the aussies learn that league players don’t make good waratahs.have a good one and go troy!!!!
